The MicoAir MStar24 is a 2.4GHz LoRa telemetry system built for one-to-many (point-to-multipoint) links: a single MStar24 Base ground unit monitors and controls up to 8 aircraft at once from one ground station. It carries MAVLink from every flight controller in a fleet or swarm to Mission Planner or QGroundControl, and the link is transparent, so any serial data can pass through it.
Choose your package
- MStar24 Base - the ground unit only, for adding to an existing MStar24 set.
- MStar24 Base + MStar24-F (2pc) x2 - one ground unit plus two 2-packs of MStar24-F air units (4 air units in total), ready for a four-aircraft fleet.
- MStar24 Base + MStar24-F (2pc) x4 - one ground unit plus four 2-packs of MStar24-F air units (8 air units in total). Eight is the most one MStar24 Base supports, so this is the complete full-capacity set for an eight-aircraft fleet.
Features
- One ground unit, up to 8 aircraft at the same time
- 2.4GHz LoRa spread-spectrum link, resistant to interference
- Ground unit shows up on the PC as 8 serial ports (ChA-ChH), one per aircraft, so each vehicle connects as its own link
- OLED display on the base shows mode and per-channel signal strength
- Air units can also run classic one-to-one (duplex) or broadcast telemetry
- Works with ArduPilot and PX4 over MAVLink2

How it works
- Give each air unit its own slave ID (0-7). ID 0 appears on ground channel ChA, ID 1 on ChB, and so on up to ID 7 on ChH - so the 8-unit set uses every channel.
- Module address and frequency must match across the ground unit and all its air units. When flying several MStar24 sets at once, give each set a different address and frequency.
- Each flight controller needs its own MAVLink system ID (SYSID_THISMAV in ArduPilot, MAV_SYS_ID in PX4), or the ground station cannot tell the aircraft apart.
- Bandwidth is shared across all aircraft. In standard mode, 4 aircraft get about 2.6KB/s each and 8 aircraft about 1.3KB/s each; high-speed mode (22KB/s total) gives 8 aircraft about 2.75KB/s each, so use high-speed mode for a full 8-aircraft fleet. Set the number of air units on the base to the number you actually fly.
- Configure both units in MicoAssistant 0.9.16 or newer. Full setup guide: MicoAir MStar24 configuration guide.
Compatibility
- Air units: the Base works only with MStar24-F and MStar24-F-Mini air units, up to 8 per Base.
- Not compatible with MicoAir LR24, LR868 or LR900 telemetry - the firmware is different and the modules will not link.
- Flight controller: any ArduPilot or PX4 board with a free UART (e.g. TELEM1). Wire telemetry TX to FC RX and RX to FC TX; the air unit is powered from the port at 5V.
